Bluesky Vs X Users

The user growth of Bluesky increased sharply after the U.S. elections in November, as political divisions and frustrations with X led many users to try alternative platforms.  The share of news influencers roughly doubled around the 2024 elections, rising from 21% before the election day to 43% afterward.

According to a report from Forbes, Bluesky saw a temporary surge of 500% in U.S. users just two weeks after Trump’s 2024 election win. While X experienced losses during the same period, dropping from 146.9 million daily users in November 2024 to 143.4 million users in December, before continuing its downward trend.

Both platforms have a similar visual layout, but Bluesky emphasizes a decentralized, alternative approach, whereas X remains a centralized, established microblogging platform.

Bluesky and X both allow short posts, real-time engagement, and multimedia content. Bluesky is decentralized, giving users more control over data, moderation, and feeds, while X is centralized with advanced ads, analytics, and monetization tools.
